Who is this training for?

Foster carers, adoptive parents, residential care staff, social workers, and the agencies and local authorities that support them.

What does the course actually cover?

Twelve modules — hair science, cultural identity, trauma-informed practice, wash-day routine, detangling, protective styling, mixed-race hair specifically, product knowledge, scalp health, community connection, school advocacy, and building long-term independence in the young person.

How is it delivered?

Currently as a live, trainer-led session using the video-supported course materials — in person or remote, depending on what suits your team.

How long does it take?

The programme is designed to be delivered over two separate days. This format gives learners time to reflect on the content, consolidate learning, practise new skills, and return with questions before progressing to the next stage. While each module contains around 15 minutes of core teaching, additional time is built in for demonstrations, practical activities, discussion, reflection and assessment — trainers adapt the pace to the group while making sure every learning outcome is met. In our experience, this creates a genuinely more effective learning experience than trying to deliver the same content in one continuous session.

For rolling CPD programmes, the twelve modules can also be delivered as stand-alone 90-minute sessions, though the two-day format remains our recommended approach.

Is it CPD accredited?

The course is built to CPD standard — structured learning objectives, assessed knowledge checks, and a practical competency sign-off for every module.

Are you insured?

Yes — Crowned With Confidence Ltd holds public liability and professional indemnity insurance.

Do carers receive a certificate?

Yes — on completion of all twelve modules, a minimum 80% knowledge assessment pass rate, and satisfactory completion of all practical tasks.
